When should I take DUKORAL®?

DUKORAL® must be started at least 2 weeks before you leave, unless this is a booster dose. Remember to leave enough time before your next trip.

But it is also important to consult your healthcare professional for pre-travel health advice at least 4 to 6 weeks before your planned departure date.

Ask your healthcare professional about DUKORAL® and any other vaccines that may be advisable before your trip.

DUKORAL® is intended to help prevent diarrhea caused by heat-labile toxin-producing enterotoxigenic E. coli (LT-ETEC) and cholera in adults and children 2 years of age and older.


It does not treat LT-producing enterotoxigenic E. coli (LT-ETEC) diarrhea or cholera once it develops. Not everyone who gets vaccinated will be fully protected. Precautions to avoid contaminated food or water should be taken. Allergic reactions and side effects such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, fever, nausea and vomiting may occur.
